UPDATED: Kenney named to medical board

Gov. John Kasich appointed Westerville man and major campaign contributor Donald R. Kenney Sr. to the State Medical Board for a temporary term that ends July 31.

Kenney, who is in real estate, appears to have donated about $16,000 to Kasich's successful gubernatorial campaign, campaign finance records show. Kenney's wife, Cheryl, donated $21,395 to Kasich's campaign.

Last year, Kasich appointed major donor Laurie Elsass ($22,790, records show), wife of Kasich political consultant Rex Elsass, to the medical board. According to its web-site, the medical Board is comprised of nine physicians and three non-physician public members - all appointed by the governor to five-year terms.

*Note: Kenney has a son by the same name who appears to have donated $500 to Kasich's campaign.
