UPDATED: Strickland terminates campaign fund

Ted Strickland terminated his campaign account for governor, but he said the move has no bearing on his political future.

"It doesn’t mean anything in particular," the former Democratic governor said in a phone interview. Strickland is currently teaching this semester at the Harvard Kennedy School's Institute of Politics in Cambridge, Mass. "I wanted to bring things to a close, not have to continue with periodic filings."

Strickland contributed all but $5.87 of the $10,848.84 he had in his campaign account to the Capitol Square Foundation in Columbus. He said his terminating the account would not impact a run for tion, should he choose to pursue one.

Strickland lost a re-election bid to current Gov. John Kasich in 2010.

"I haven’t ruled it out, haven’t ruled it in," Strickland said. "I continue to be interested in, engaged in Ohio politics. I certainly want to keep my options open at this point."

Strickland was named Wednesday as one of 35 national co-chairs for President Barack Obama's re-election campaign.
