Rep. Zack Space, D-Dover, trampled Republican Joy Padgett in 2006 to take the 18th Congressional District seat formerly held by Republican Bob Ney. Ney quit the race in August 2006 as the Abramoff scandal closed in around him. Space easily won re-election in 2008.
