Bob Latta won a special election Dec. 11, 2007, to complete the term of the late Paul Gillmor. Gillmor, who was 68 when he died, had represented the district for nearly 20 years. Latta was elected to a full term in 2008.
The 5th Congressional District sprawls across 16 counies in northwestern Ohio.
