Pick the V.P.

Gov. Ted Strickland said that Sen. Hillary Clinton remains his first choice to be Sen. Barack Obama's running mate, even though he doesn't think it's going to happen.

Instead, Strickland speculated yesterday that Obama will name either Delaware Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. or Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, and he said he would be satisfied with either one.

Strickland, once the focus of national speculation as a possible vice presidential candidate, said Biden "knows more about foreign policy than anyone (else) in the Congress" and that Bayh would be a "totally safe choice" who could bring Republican-leaning Indiana into play for Obama.
