Gov. Ted Strickland was in New York City yesterday for "party-building" and campaign-related
events, the second straight week with such an out-of-state trip.
The governor was in Texas last Monday and Tuesday for events aimed at raising money for the Ohio Democratic Party and his re-election campaign next year. The party, speaking for Strickland, doesn't disclose other details. Strickland also took a trip to New York last month and has had events so far this year in Chicago and Washington. He previously has said that most meetings do not involve direct solicitations for campaign cash but are aimed at building relationships to aid future fundraising appeals. -- Mark Niquette mniquette@dispatch.com Story toolsToday’s Top Stories

The weather stays pretty temperate in Washington most of the time until late into the fall, so it is a great season to visit the nation's capital, stroll along the National Mall and gaze at the leaves while you check out the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and other treasures.
