A Columbus firefighter will be one of two newcomers to join the Reynoldsburg school board in January.
Ryan Brzezinski, 40, who graduated from Reynoldsburg High School in 1987, will join newcomer Elaine Tornero and incumbent Andrew J. Swope on the board next year. A story in Wednesday's Dispatch said Kristin Bryant had won a seat, but Licking County precincts helped Brzezinski pull out a victory. Cheryl Max, the board's current president, and James A. Slonaker Jr. lost their seats. Brzezinski served as president of the parent-teacher organization at Taylor Road Elementary for three years. He also served on two bond and two levy committees and is on the superintendent advisory committee. He supported the levy request that was defeated Tuesday, but he said before the election that the board needs to rebuild trust with the public. "We need to be more transparent, communicate, be visible, and engage the opinions of the public," he said in response to a Dispatch survey. He and his wife have two children at Waggoner Road Junior High. Tornero, 53, is a stay-at-home mother who has home-schooled her six children. Swope, 49, is a certified public accountant who has been on the board for 10 years. Story toolsToday’s Top Stories
