ATHENS, Ohio - A special prosecutor asked a judge today to give former Athens County Democratic Party chair Susan Gwinn at least some jail time or house arrest, but Gwinn will pay only a $1,000 fine for having falsified two campaign finance reports during her 2008 run for county prosecutor. Appointed Judge William H. Wolff, Jr., said he was not convinced that Gwinn knowingly broke the law in filling out her finance reports. Gwinn had borrowed more than $27,000 from her brother and another man, and listed the money as a personal loan from herself to her campaign. Wolff ruled she should not have listed herself as the donor.

A man from eastern Ohio apparently left Ohio State University Medical Center and jumped to his death from a Rt. 315 overpass between King and W. 5th avenues this morning. The man jumped about 10:30 a.m. and was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later at the Medical Center, Columbus police Sgt. John Kane said at the scene. The man leapt from the freeway onto a gravel parking lot on the west bank of the Olentangy River, Kane said. The man, Darren Sayres, 43, of Marietta, was a patient at the Medical Center, Franklin County Coroner Jan Gorniak said. The hospital wouldn't give details about why he was being treated. The potential builders of a new Air Force aerial-refueling tanker are inviting anyone who is Downtown for the next few hours to come by and play video games.

The Boeing Aerial Refueling Technology trailer will be parked across from the Statehouse on S. 3rd Street until about 3 p.m. Boeing is taking the trailer across the country -- often to air shows and state capitals -- to promote its proposed NewGen Tanker, said Bill Barksdale, a Boeing spokesman.
